98G RAYS - NorCal State Cup Super Champions!

The RAYS 98G team, comprised mostly of players from the GSC Select program, got through their U11 (Super Division) State Cup games with an impressive 9-0-0 record. They went on to win the State Cup final 2-0 against Modesto Ajax in an intense and exciting game on December 19.

The 98G RAYS team has GSC players from all over the Peninsula, from Burlingame to Menlo Park, and is coached by Andres Deza, current Gryphons Soccer Club Coaching Director.

Coach Andres attributes their success not so much to the Championship wins secured by this group, but to the way this is being achieved and the style of soccer this team is trying to play.

NorCal Premier Soccer co-Founder, Mr. Blakeman, said the following at the trophy ceremony: "It is easy to win games at this age by compromising player development. It is very hard to play good quality football, taking lots of risks in the process, and still winning Championships. This team is achieving it. I am very impressed".
